The Mexican Chiminea

Craftsmanship from Mexico

This unique chimney has it's roots in Mexico, where artisans blended two of nature's elements, fire and earth, to produce what is known as the Mexican chiminea (chi-mih-nee-ah). Chimineas were originally used for baking bread, and they charmed all who assembled around them. Though times have changed, the chiminea is still used in preparing food. It is used for braai-ing, cooking, or baking pizzas.

It gives any room a very interesting look, and in this case, mixes well with the typical boere living room. This small Chiminea was set up inside a steel braai-place. Use it outdoors

Today many people experience the same temptation and warmth around a chiminea when they meet with friends on patios and outdoor decks.

Use it indoors

You don't have to have a fireplace to enjoy the warm and cozy feel of a heated living room. Here's an idea for using the Chiminea indoors: fill the bottom up with crushed rock, and plant candles inside it. The beautiful glow will add an exotic feel to any room.

Each Chiminea a unique design

Because each chiminea is handcrafted, it is individual in design.

Use it alongside your traditional braai

The traditional braai is as much a part of South Africa as biltong and rugby, but using a Chiminea enhances the typical South African braai experience, without making you feel like a traitor.
